A 1.7 litre glass kettle that shows the water level and the boil itself, which makes it easy to see when descaling is due — something you cannot judge inside a steel or plastic jug.

Borosilicate glass does not hold flavours the way plastic does, so tea tastes the same on the hundredth boil as the first. The kettle lifts off a 360-degree base in any direction and shuts itself off at the boil, with a second cut-out if it is ever switched on empty.

Is the glass safe if knocked?
It is borosilicate, the same family as laboratory glassware — far more heat and shock resistant than ordinary glass, but it is still glass and will break on a hard fall.

How do I descale it?
Fill with equal parts white vinegar and water, boil, leave 30 minutes, then rinse twice. Monthly is enough in most areas.
