A twelve-cup drip machine with a thermal carafe rather than a hot plate. A hot plate keeps stewing the coffee until it turns bitter; a vacuum carafe simply holds the heat, so the last cup tastes like the first about four hours later.
The 24-hour timer means grounds and water can be loaded the night before and coffee is ready at a set time. A permanent mesh filter removes the running cost of paper filters, and brew-pause lets you pour a cup mid-cycle without a puddle on the counter.
Can I still use paper filters?
Yes. The basket takes a standard number 4 cone filter if you prefer a cleaner cup.
Why is my coffee weak?
Most often the grind is too coarse for drip. Aim for medium, roughly the texture of table salt, and use about 60 g per litre.
